The working-couple question

How long can a Cavapoo be left alone?

How long can a Cavapoo be left alone?

A trained adult Cavapoo copes with a standard Singapore workday, roughly 8 to 10 hours, if mornings include exercise and evenings include company. Puppies are different: bladder capacity is about their age in months plus one hour, so until month four a midday break is non-negotiable.

Why this breed gets our working-couple recommendation

The question we ask every buyer, who is home from 8am to 6pm, exists because alone-time tolerance varies wildly between lookalike breeds. The Cavapoo's Poodle side buys real independence: taught early that the pen means snacks and naps, it treats your workday as nap time. The Maltipoo comparison in ourhead-to-head is the mismatch we correct most.

The puppy months: your three midday options

Between homecoming and roughly month four, someone must appear at lunch. Singapore households solve it three ways: a lunchtime dash home while offices are hybrid, a dog walker at roughly $20 to $35 a visit, or daycare two to three days a week at $40 to $70 a day. Families often mix all three for eight weeks and then never need them again.

The honest line

Eight trained hours is fine; twelve dark-to-dark hours daily is not, for this or any companion breed. If that is the current season of your life, wait, and we will say the same thing in the shop even with a puppy on the counter between us.

Workday-ready checklist

  • Absence drills from day one, minutes long
  • Departure toy that only exists when you leave
  • Real walk before 9am, not a toilet dash
  • Midday cover until month four
  • Camera for reassurance, not surveillance guilt

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave a Cavapoo alone while I work full time?

An adult Cavapoo with a trained routine handles a standard 8am-to-6pm workday, provided mornings include a real walk and evenings include company. Puppies cannot: until about month four they need a midday toilet break, arranged or personal.

How long can a Cavapoo puppy hold its bladder?

Roughly its age in months plus one, in hours: a 3-month-old manages about four hours. That biology, not temperament, is why the first months need a midday plan regardless of how independent the puppy is.

Is doggy daycare worth it in Singapore?

For the months between homecoming and a workday-ready routine, often yes; two or three days a week bridges the gap. Prices run roughly $40 to $70 a day. Many families switch to a lunchtime walker instead, at about $20 to $35 a visit.

Will my Cavapoo be sad alone all day?

A routined Cavapoo mostly sleeps through your workday; cameras surprise first-time owners with how boring the footage is. Sadness looks like all-day whining, destruction or door-scratching, and those are signs the alone-time training got skipped, not that the breed cannot cope.
