How big does a Cavapoo get full grown?

By Nelson and Kim, AVS licensed pet shop owners · Updated 12 July 2026

How big is a full-grown Cavapoo?

Most of the Cavapoos we place are toy-sized, finishing at 3 to 5kg full grown; minis run 5 to 10kg. Adult height arrives by about 9 to 10 months and final weight by 12 months, at roughly 24 to 35cm at the shoulder, and every size stays comfortably apartment-friendly.

Cavapoo growth charts: toy and mini

Two corridors, because the two sizes grow differently. Most of our placements are toy-sized, so start with the first table; mini lines track the second. Individual puppies vary with the Poodle parent, so treat each chart as a corridor, not a target.

Toy vs mini vs standard: honest sizing

Toy · most of our puppies

3–5kg full grown

Toy Poodle parent. The size most of our Cavapoos are: lap-sized, lift-friendly, made for flats and carriers. Commands a price premium.

Mini

5–10kg full grown

Slightly bigger and sturdier; a great fit for families with young kids who play rough.

"Teacup"

A red flag, not a size

Marketing language for abnormally tiny puppies with concentrated health risks. We do not sell them, and we suggest you do not buy them.

What actually predicts your puppy's adult size

The single best predictor is the Poodle parent's size, followed by generation: an F1b with a toy Poodle parent finishes smaller than an F1 from a miniature Poodle line. Paw size at 9 weeks gives a rough hint, but parents beat paws every time.

A note from the shop floor: overseas breeder sites promise precise adult weights to the half kilo, and buyers arrive quoting them. Across our placements, the honest answer is a range, and we would rather show you the parents' sizes and let you see the corridor than promise a number a puppy never agreed to. F1 vs F1b explained covers the generation lever.

Does Cavapoo size matter for HDB approval?

No. Every honest Cavapoo size class, toy through mini, stays comfortably within small-breed territory at 3 to 10kg, and our HDB guide shows why licence transfers to HDB flats never flag the breed. Pick size for your lifestyle, not for the rules.

Frequently asked questions

When does a Cavapoo stop growing?

Most Cavapoos reach their adult height by 9 to 10 months and fill out to final weight by 12 months. Toy-sized Cavapoos finish earlier, larger minis a little later. After the first birthday, meaningful growth is over.

Are male Cavapoos bigger than females?

Slightly, on average, males often finish half a kilo to a kilo heavier, but the Poodle parent size and generation matter far more than gender. Two littermates can differ more than a typical male-female gap.

What is a teacup Cavapoo?

A marketing term, not a real size class. Puppies advertised as teacup are bred or fed to be abnormally tiny, which concentrates health problems. Toy is the smallest honest size label; be wary of any seller promising smaller.

How big should the playpen be for a Cavapoo?

The playpen in our starter kit suits a Cavapoo from puppyhood through adulthood: room for a bed, pee tray, water and play space. For crates, pick one around 76cm (30 inches) so an adult can stand and turn comfortably.

How do I know if my Cavapoo is overweight?

You should feel the ribs easily under light pressure and see a waist from above. In a breed this size, even half a kilo of excess shows. Adjust food before it compounds, and use the annual booster visit to confirm weight with your vet.
