Cavapoo vs Cavapoochon: we sell both, here's the truth

By Nelson and Kim, AVS licensed pet shop owners · Updated 12 July 2026

Is a Cavapoochon the same as a Cavapoo?

No. A Cavapoo crosses a Cavalier with a Poodle; a Cavapoochon adds a third breed, the Bichon Frise, usually via a Cavachon bred to a Poodle. The triple cross tends to a curlier coat and a rounder, teddy-like face, with the same gentle companion temperament as the Cavapoo.

The triple cross, without the marketing gloss

The Cavapoochon was designed to combine the Cavalier's sweetness, the Bichon's plush hypoallergenic-leaning coat and the Poodle's brain. Overseas marketing calls it the forever-puppy dog. The honest version: the round face genuinely tends to stay, the curls genuinely shed very little, and the dog still grows up like any other.

Because we place both breeds from the same shop, the comparison carries no thumb on the scale: same starter kit, same delivery and setup, same licensing at purchase, same aftercare, whichever name is on the puppy.

Which should you choose?

Choose the Cavapoochon if the teddy face and the lowest-shedding coat top your list and you can commit to near-daily brushing. Choose the Cavapoo if you want more choice in coats and colours, a more forgiving grooming routine, and faster availability.

Temperament will not split them; both are gentle, people-first companions that suit Singapore flats. It is a looks-and-grooming decision, and either way the routine advice in our temperament guide applies.

  • Lowest brushing load: wavy Cavapoo
  • Fastest availability: Cavapoo

Frequently asked questions

Is a Cavapoochon just a fancier Cavapoo?

No, it is a genuinely different cross: Cavalier, Bichon Frise and Poodle in one dog, usually a Cavachon bred to a Poodle. The result skews smaller-featured and curlier-coated than a typical Cavapoo, with the same companion temperament.

Do Cavapoochons really keep a puppy face forever?

The forever-puppy line is marketing with a grain of truth: the triple cross often keeps a rounder face and teddy expression into adulthood. The dog still matures normally in behaviour and energy; only the look stays young.

Which costs more, a Cavapoo or a Cavapoochon?

Our published all-in ranges overlap: Cavapoos $3,288 to $5,988 and Cavapoochons $3,688 to $4,988. A rare-coloured Cavapoo can exceed a Cavapoochon, so compare the specific puppy, not the breed name.

Which is easier to groom?

The Cavapoo, on average. Cavapoochon coats are almost always tightly curled, which means near-daily brushing in Singapore humidity, while Cavapoo coats range from forgiving waves to similar curls. If brushing time is tight, a wavy Cavapoo is the practical pick.
