Cavapoo haircut styles that work in Singapore

By Nelson and Kim, AVS licensed pet shop owners · Updated 12 July 2026

What is the best Cavapoo haircut for Singapore?

The teddy cut, body clipped to 2 to 3cm with a rounded face, is the best all-round Cavapoo haircut here: plush enough to keep the breed's look, short enough to brush and dry in humid weather. Matting-prone coats do better one step shorter, in a 1cm summer cut.

Why length is a climate decision here

Overseas style guides assume a dog that dries in twenty minutes. In Singapore, a long Cavapoo coat stays damp after every walk, and damp curls knot. That is why every cut above tops out around 3cm: past that length, you are signing up for daily line-brushing or monthly dematting fees.

Puppies usually take their first proper haircut around month five or six, after vaccinations and once grooming-table manners exist. Book a face-feet-hygiene intro session earlier so the first full groom is boring for everyone.

Eyes clear, always

Whatever the style, keep eye corners cut fully clear. Hair wicking into eyes drives tear staining and irritation, especially on lighter coats. A round teddy head with clear eyes is the brief; a topknot fringe is for breeds with straighter hair.

Groomer brief, copy-paste

  • Body: one length, 2 to 3cm
  • Head: rounded teddy, eyes fully clear
  • Ears: trimmed to jaw line
  • Tail: natural, tidied
  • Sanitary and paw pads: short

Frequently asked questions

What is the most popular Cavapoo haircut?

The teddy cut: one length around 2 to 3cm over the body with a rounded face and slightly fuller ears. It keeps the plush look Cavapoos are loved for while staying brushable in humid weather.

How short is too short for a Cavapoo in Singapore?

Avoid shaving to the skin except for severe matting. A 1cm summer cut is as short as you should routinely go: it protects from sunburn on walks while cutting drying time and matting almost to zero.

How often will my Cavapoo need a haircut?

Every 4 to 6 weeks for curly coats and 6 to 8 for wavier ones, with brushing at home between sessions. Stretching the interval is what turns a $90 groom into a shave-down.

What should I tell the groomer for a teddy cut?

Say: body one length at 2 to 3cm, rounded teddy head, eyes fully clear, ears trimmed to jaw line, sanitary and paw pads tidy. Bring a photo the first time; after one good session the groomer keeps notes.
