What a Cavapoo really costs per year in Singapore
By Nelson and Kim, AVS licensed pet shop owners · Updated 12 July 2026
How much does owning a Cavapoo cost per year?
Budget $1,500 to $2,500 a year for a steady-state adult: food, grooming every 4 to 8 weeks, the annual booster visit and licence renewal. Year one runs higher with the midday-care months and vet schedule, and insurance or daycare add their own lines on top.
Year one vs the steady state
| Line | Year 1 | Steady state / yr | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Food + treats | $500–$900 | $500–$900 | puppy → adult formula near month 12 |
| Grooming | $400–$800 | $600–$1,100 | full cadence starts ~month 6 |
| Vet | $150–$400 | $100–$250 | wk-12 jab + sterilisation vs annual booster |
| Licence | $13.50–$81 | $13.50–$81 | tier by duration + sterilisation; verify at AVS |
| Midday care (months 1–4) | $300–$1,200 | $0 | walker/daycare bridge; often zero if hybrid |
| Insurance (optional) | $300–$700 | $300–$700 | price it young or not at all |
Figures are typical Singapore ranges as of mid-2026; the licence tier table is authoritative at theAVS licensing page. Purchase price itself is covered in the price guide.

The two corners never worth cutting
Grooming regularity and the annual booster visit. Stretching grooming intervals reads as savings until the coat felts and the only option is a shave plus a dematting fee. Skipping the yearly checkup saves $150 and forfeits the early catch on the heart murmur that management depends on. Everything else on the table has a cheaper workable version; these two do not.
What our all-in purchase removes from year one
Worth counting when comparing sellers: the 30-item kit (over $500 of gear), delivery and setup, the first training lesson and the licensing paperwork are inside our purchase price, which is why our year-one column starts lighter than a bare-puppy purchase from a seller whose price excludes the lot.
Monthly, in one card
- Steady state: $125 to $210 a month
- Grooming is the biggest single line
- Months 1 to 4 add the midday bridge
- Insurance: decide while the puppy is young
- Never cut: grooming cadence, annual booster
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Cavapoo cost per month in Singapore?
A steady-state adult runs roughly $125 to $210 a month: food $40 to 75, grooming $50 to 90 averaged, the annual vet visit and licence spread out, plus toys and pads. Insurance or daycare push it higher; year one runs above this while routines and gear settle.
How much is the dog licence, exactly?
Between $13.50 and $81 depending on licence duration and sterilisation status; puppies start at the unsterilised rate since sterilisation is generally advised from about 7 months. Check the current tier table on the AVS licensing page before renewing.
Is pet insurance worth it for a Cavapoo?
It is a bet on middle age: premiums of $300 to $700 a year against the possibility of heart medication or a knee procedure later. If you would struggle with a surprise $4,000 bill, price policies while the puppy is young and conditions are not yet pre-existing.
Where do new owners overspend?
Gear duplication and gourmet food-hopping are the classics: replacing a perfectly good starter kit with boutique versions, and cycling premium kibbles chasing a picky eater the 15-minute bowl rule would fix free. Spend the savings on grooming regularity instead; that one repays you.
